Question

1. Attendance at a minimum of 10 out of 12 tutorials must be achieved to receive a Non-Graded Pass. A Non-Graded Pass in this assessment is required to pass the topic overall. • Students enrolled in the internal version of the topic must attend their registered tutorial each week.  • Where an internal student cannot attend their registered tutorial they may attend another tutorial time within that week – this is to be reserved for exceptional ad hoc situations (e.g. an emergency or illness). In such instances the student is required to: notify their tutor immediately; contact the tutor of the class they wish to attend and let them know they will be attending; complete the form available on FLO for attending an alternative tutorial; have the tutor at their replacement class sign the form; and give the signed form to their usual tutor in class the following week. Tutor details can be found in the Topic Guide.  • Students enrolled in the distance education version of the topic must complete the online tutorial activity on FLO each week (this is considered to be your tutorial). The online activity opens at 9am Monday each week and closes at 9am Monday the following week – late submissions are not accepted.  • Students who miss more than two tutorials (or online tutorial activities) in the semester will be required to meet with the Topic Coordinator who will determine their capacity to successfully complete the topic.

2. Professional behaviour must be displayed throughout tutorials. Consider your participation and engagement in tutorials as a precursor to your participation in a professional practice setting. With this in mind please note the following: • Engagement with peers and teaching staff in tutorials must be respectful, inclusive and nondiscriminatory.  • Everyone benefits from well-prepared and informed discussions. Students are expected to watch the lecture and complete the readings before attending the tutorial each week. It is not the tutor’s role to regurgitate lecture/reading content – tutorials are designed to explore the content from different perspectives and/or in greater depth. Lack of preparation impedes the ability of the group to fully explore the topic content. You will get out what you put in. • Please do not enrol in a tutorial if you have adjacent classes on a different campus as the 10-minute gap between class times is insufficient for travel between campuses. It is unprofessional and disrespectful to expect to arrive late or leave your tutorial early each week – this is not something that would be accepted in a work/placement situation and you will miss content each week that precludes your achievement of full attendance as per point 1. Whilst unforeseen circumstances do happen if you have concerns about your ability to make it to class on time on a weekly basis please enrol in a different tutorial or consider completing the topic as a distance education student (this will necessitate a change in your enrolment). Please note that you need to complete the semester as either an internal or distance student – you cannot change your type of enrolment after week 2.   This assessment exercise relates to the following Learning Outcomes: • Articulate a personal philosophy of care as it relates to the student’s chosen profession. • Identify the way in which their personal philosophy of care is shaped by the lived experience of illness, but also by the constraints on professional practice arising from the structure of the health care system.  • Extend group work skills developed in HLTH1305 Health Practitioner Practice 1 to respectful discussion and development of one’s own ideas using the tutorial format.
