This assignment is divided into several parts.

Selecting a topic

Only one student can write on a particular topic. Go the the Post your Term Paper Topic Choice Here discussion to submit your topic for approval.  Review the other topics before submitting yours!

I'll say that again: Please see the  Post your Term Paper Topic Choice Here discussion for a running list of topics that are NOT available.

The topic MUST be related to this course.  Some types of topics you can consider:

• A case study (eg. The Civil Unrest in Ferguson, The Freddy Gray Arrest)

• Program report (eg. Coffee with a Cop, National Night Out)

• An analysis of a report or study (ie. The President's Report on 21st Century Policing)

• A biography (related to this course) (eg. Willie L. Williams the first African-American Chief of LAPD)

• A report on legislation (eg.The Matthew Shepard And James Byrd, Jr., Hate Crimes Prevention Act Of 2009)

• A social issue (eg Sex Trafficking, Gangs, Drugs)

• A social cause/group  that interacts with law enforcement (Black Lives Matter, The Innocence Project)

• Terrorist groups (Earth First, Muslim Brotherhood, PETA)

• Here are some other suggestions: AJ 115 Term Project Suggested Topics.docx

You are free to chose any topic, as long as it is related to Community and Human Relations.  Browse though the textbook for some ideas. I'll help you focus.

Topics that were not approved are few but here are a few:  A Biography of Richard Ramirez (written through the lens of his crimes), How to Make Koren Food (OK, he submitted the wrong essay to the wrong class)

If you do not chose a topic by the due date, one will be assigned to you.

If you want, I can go ahead and assign you a topic, just send me a message and let me know.

The descriptions of the other parts of this assignment are located the assignment descriptions.

Examples to use:

APA 5th ed Template.docx

Please, please, please use the TEMPLATE.  It will make life easier for you AND I.

Essay non-example.pdf   I call this a non-example because it is close but not perfect. For example you see the word (reference) in red throughout the document.  The student needed more references.  It was the first draft from the student (BTW wayyyy to long)
