View the movie Crash (in the module) and respond to the following prompts:

In one scene LAPD Officer Hansen talks to his superior, Lt. Dixon about switching partners because his partner, Officer Ryan is a racist. Dixon, a black man, claims that Hansen's charge of Ryan as a racist could cost both Hansen and Dixon their jobs. Dixon suggests an alternative way to address the issue.  

1. Although the movie is fictional, do you believe Lt. Dixon’s concerns as a minority in a law enforcement management position might be valid? Explain

2. Put yourself in Lt. Dixon’s shoes, would you be willing to act regardless of the consequences? In your own words, what would be the "right thing" to do?  

3. Have you ever had to suffer consequences for doing something unpopular?  Share if you feel comfortable doing so.

1.  At the time of the movie, Lt. Dixon's response basically would have accepted. It was his job to make sure that the department ran smoothly. Officer Hansen although correct for pointing out a racist coworker would have been shunned by his fellow officers if they found out. Lt. Dixon gave him an easy out, a rather embarrassing one.
